IT has been a season to forget in the National League North for Warrington Town – but could they end it with some silverware?

They may be struggling in the league but they do have the chance to give their supporters something to smile about in the Cheshire Senior Cup – a trophy they are looking to win for the very first time.

Tonight, they continue to do just that as they welcome Crewe Alexandra to the Cal.Delivery Stadium in their quarter-final tie.

Yellows have won two ties to reach this stage – they beat Cammell Laird 3-1 in December thanks to a Mikey O’Neill double and a further goal from Joe Rodwell-Grant while Matty McDonald’s goal earned them a 1-0 victory over Stockport County in the last round.

The Alex have won both of their games 4-2, seeing off Stockport Georgians and Congleton Town.

The route beyond this point for whomever wins tonight’s game has already been mapped out – the winners will earn a home semi-final against Stalybridge Celtic next Tuesday, March 25, and beyond that, Runcorn Linnets await in the final, the date and venue for which is yet to be confirmed.

Tonight’s game at the Cal.Delivery Stadium kicks off at 7.30pm.
