Liverpool have been told Atletico Madrid have no intention of allowing Julian Alvarez to leave this summer - despite his agent refusing to rule out a possible exit. The player's representative, Fernando Hidalgo, claimed over the weekend the Reds had enquired last year about signing the Argentina striker from Manchester City before his switch to La Liga for £80million.
Alvarez has been in impressive form for Atletico this season with 23 goals in 44 appearances to help keep Diego Simeone's side in contention for the domestic title.
There had been a report Liverpool have already approached Atletico over signing the 25-year-old in the forthcoming transfer window, but this has now been dismissed by the Spanish side's sporting director Carlos Busero.

“The talk about Liverpool submitting an official offer to sign our player Julian Alvarez is incorrect," said Busero to 365scores. "What is being circulated is just rumours.
"Alvarez is a key and important player in our project, and we have no intention of letting him go. The player himself is not paying attention to these rumours."
Arne Slot has previously confirmed Liverpool are in the market for a new number nine this summer with speculation surrounding the long-term future of Darwin Nunez. The Reds rejected an approach for the player from Saudi Arabia in January.
