RADNOR Valley reached their sixth consecutive Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup final following a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over league rivals Llandrindod Wells at The Bypass.
Goals were in short supply in the county cup clash as the outcome of the tie had to be decided from the penalty spot.
The Goats had the first real opportunity of this semi-final when veteran forward Geraint Lloyd headed wide of the far post.
The Spa men responded five minutes later when Liam Hall's low drive from the edge of the penalty area flew wide of Otto Jones' far post.
Tom Edwards was then unable to keep his half-volley down from the edge of the penalty area two minutes later after a deep free-kick played into the visitor's penalty area was only partially cleared.
The Spa men enjoyed their best period of the first-half just prior to the interval as they created a number of goal scoring opportunities.
Tom Durant delivered an inviting cross from out on the left in the 37th minutes when no Llandrindod Wells could apply the vital touch in front of goal.
Radnor Valley defender Jack Price was forced to head a corner off the line three minutes later before Liam Hall curled his follow-up effort from 20 yards wide of the far post.
Will Cleaton's low drive from the right side of the penalty area parried by Jones before Sammy De Groot was unable to keep his header on target from the ensuing cross on the right.
The Spa men concluded the opening half with Zak Baker heading over the crossbar from a stoppage-time corner as the two team could not be separated at the break.
The Llandrindod Wells supporters thought that they had taken the lead seven minutes after half-time when Durant converted a low cross, but saw his effort ruled on by an offside flag.
Elliot Morris was then unable to keep his header underneath the crossbar from deep 71st minute free-kick played into the Llandrindod Wells penalty area.
The Spa men thought they had broken the deadlock two minutes later when Danny Hall found the back of the net after being played through on goal, but once again an offside flag came to the rescue of the New Radnor club.
The nearest the Goats came to scoring during the second-half was when Lloyd's close-range effort was scrambled off the line.
Radnor Valley goalkeeper Otto Jones was the hero of the shoot-out as he saved two Llandrindod Wells penalties before Matthews converted the winning kick to send his team through to the final against Presteigne St Andrews or holders Builth Wells.
