Chris Davies has revealed a sickness bug ended Willum Willumsson’s game early as Birmingham City battered Barnsley 6-2.
Willumsson was withdrawn immediately after Barnsley equalised in the first half through Davis Keillor-Dunn.
The Iceland international looked sluggish in the first half and he was beaten aerially in the build-up to Keillor-Dunn’s goal.

“He was feeling unwell before the game,” Davies explained afterwards. “He decided to give it a go but then he wasn’t feeling right and needed to come off.
“It was OK, because against the 10 men, shifting Keshi out to the right, Jay to the left, and getting Alfie on as an extra striker was fine.
“He’s just got a bit of a virus.”
Alfie May stepped off the bench to replace Willumsson and scored his 14th goal of the season. The striker also provided two assists for Luke Harris and Kieran Dowell’s goals to take his tally to 21 goal contributions in League One.
“He’s such a bubbly character, full of energy, and even when he doesn’t play he’s full of support for the others which is quite unusual for a striker,” said Davies.
“The goal that he scored reminded me of Jay’s (Stansfield) goal against Wrexham with Alex’s (Cochrane) deeper cross but he had to watch it come a long way before he guided it into the corner.
“Alfie is a goal scorer. Even when he was missing chances a few weeks ago, I had no doubt that he was going to score again.
“Strikers have these little flurries of goals so hopefully it’s come at a good time.”
