A FOOTBALL club with a difference are on the lookout for players to join a new men's team that will compete in the Trowbridge District League.

Salisbury Rovers were founded in 2016 and have since won a host of awards and have been named Wiltshire FA's Club of the Year three times.

Rovers are hoping to attract younger players who are looking to start out in the men's game and experienced players seeking a positive environment.

Their first training session will be held on the outdoor pitches at Five Rivers Leisure Centre on Thursday, April 24 from 7pm until 8pm.

The club is also about to launch a new futsal team.

They will compete in the National Futsal League next season and train at Chafyn Grove Sports Hall on Mondays from 8pm until 9.30pm.

Its youth sections do not have trials and organise equal pitch time for children and young people who attend regularly so they learn and develop.

Rovers have links with clubs and coaches across the UK and around the world and have an advisory panel to support the club's key aspects.

Debbie Sayers, the club secretary, coach, and welfare officer, said: “We have won multiple awards, and we have got a fairly significant national and international presence.

“We get asked to speak all over the world.

“We're very player-led. We've got young people moving through into adults' football.

“It's about building a pathway for young people to be able to continue to play. It will support their development and be led by them.”
