SAM Burgess has officially declared his interest in bringing prop Tom Amone to Warrington Wolves.
The powerful front-rower returned to the NRL for 2025 with Canterbury Bulldogs after a highly successful spell in England with Leigh Leopards, but is yet to play a first-grade game for the Belmore outfit and has instead been playing his rugby league in the second-string New South Wales Cup.
As such, reports on both sides of the globe have linked him with a return to Super League, where he previously helped Leigh lift the Challenge Cup in 2023 – a year in which he was also named in the Super League Dream Team.
Indeed, All Out Rugby League reported earlier this week that Warrington had indeed registered their interest alongside Leigh, whose head coach Adrian Lam has admitted he was keen to reunite with the 29-year-old.

Warrington are also believed to have made a big play to sign Matty Lees from St Helens, only for the England international to instead commit his future to the Red Vee.
Sam Burgess addresses Tom Amone link to Warrington Wolves
Burgess worked with Amone during his time on the coaching staff at South Sydney Rabbitohs and when asked about whether he would be a player of interest, he made his stance very clear.
“He's a great player and I know him from my time at Souths. If he’s on the market, we’ll certainly be having a look at him,” he said.
“From what I understand, he’s on a contract at Canterbury so I don’t know how he’s doing with that but if he was made available, we would be interested.
“He’s got a young family as well and there’s a lot of other things that would go into it, but he’s a quality player.”
