How did the players fare during Sunderland's 1-0 win at West Brom?

WEST BROM (4-4-2):

Wildsmith 4; Furlong 5, Bartley 5, Heggem 5 (Diakite 79), Styles 4; Diangana 5 (Fellows 62, 5), Molumby 4, Mowatt 4 (Dike 62, 4), JOHNSTON 7 (Bany 70); Grant 5, Armstrong 4 (Lankshear 79).

Subs (not used): Griffiths (gk), Swift, Frabotta, Cole.

SUNDERLAND (4-3-3):

7 Patterson: Made a crucial late save as he clawed away Bartley’s header and withstood some sustained pressure in his box

6 Browne: Had a tough afternoon up against the lively Johnston, but stuck to his task and made some important blocks

9 MEPHAM: Superb at the heart of the back four – dealt with everything that came his way and made a series of crucial blocks

8 O’Nien: Another excellent display from the centre-half, who epitomised Sunderland’s collective defensive resolve

8 Hume: Scored his side’s winner for the second game in a row – has slipped seamlessly into his new role at left-back

7 Rigg: Dug in when he had to and was assured in possession – a mature performance in a game that didn’t really suit his style

8 Neil: Took the sting out of the game on countless occasions as he received the ball under pressure at the heart of midfield

7 Bellingham: Helped out his defenders on a number of occasions by tracking runner and blocking crosses

6 Roberts: Created a couple of bright attacking moments, but most of his best work came when tracking back

7 Isidor: Didn’t have a lot of opportunities, but ran his socks off and almost scored with a low shot in stoppage time

6 Mundle: Curled a decent effort just wide of the post, but was forced off through injury before half-time

Subs:

8 Mayenda (for Mundle, 33): Made a real impact after coming off the bench – won the free-kick that led to Hume’s winner

Le Fee (for Roberts, 71)

Hjelde (for Browne, 71)

Aleksic (for Isidor, 90+1)

(not used): Moore (gk), Anderson, Lavery, Jones, Watson.

Man Of The Match: CHRIS MEPHAM – What a signing the centre-half has been – a dominant defensive display that summed up the way he has played all season.
