Ruben Amorim has had his fair share of misfortune to deal with as Manchester United's head coach, but he is looking at the positives when it comes to a rotten run with injuries.
United have had to cope with double-digit absences in the last couple of months, hampering Amorim's ability to assimilate his squad in his 3-4-2-1 system.
While Lisandro Martinez and Amad remain sidelined for the rest of the season, some of those injury issues have begun to ease recently and results and performances have been gradually improving. But rather than cursing his luck, Amorim points to the discovery of Alejandro Garnacho's ability as a right-sided No. 10 and Ayden Heaven's emergence at centre-back as developments that will help in the future.

"I’m really excited for next season and I’m really stressed for next season as I put a lot of pressure on us. We had bad luck with injuries but you can look at the Premier League, everybody had some injuries," he said.
"When you have an injury you find something that is going to be so important in the future, so I found out Garna can play on the right, we found out Ayden is ready to stay in our squad and maybe we can change the way we are going to go the market. There are always good things in the bad things."
Amorim does believe he has had some good fortune against Pep Guardiola this season as he bids for a third win against the Manchester City boss in 2024/25. The 40-year-old got the better of Guardiola with Sporting in a 4-1 Champions League success and then won the Etihad derby with two goals in the final couple of minutes, turning the game on its head.
He benefitted from some luck in Lisbon when City missed numerous first-half chances and enjoyed his first Manchester derby victory more due to the dramatic conclusion.
Asked how he had got the better of Guardiola on two occasions, Amorim said: "Lucky. First game was so lucky in the first half, could have been 4-0 and we won 4-1.
"I prefer the second game, we won in the last second of the game, they controlled a little bit more of the possession but we were there fighting with Manchester City, so if you have to tell one thing it was maybe luck."
But luck can run out and he knows United can't rely on that to complete a double over City when the two teams meet at Old Trafford today.
"Of course [we need more than luck] because the odds drop," he said. "We are prepared for the game, we are improving in some aspects of our game, sometimes the results are not there but we are improving and I can see that, so let’s continue with that idea. We know it’s going to be a different game from Nottingham and we have to adapt the way we play."
