MICHAEL CARRICK feels Middlesbrough will reap the full reward of their January transfer business in the final eight games of the season.
Boro made eight signings during the January window, with their new arrivals having experienced a mixed level of success in their first two months on Teesside.
Some, like goalkeeper Mark Travers, have hit the ground running and made an instant impact. Others, like winger Morgan Whittaker and striker Kelechi Iheanacho, are yet to display their best form in a Boro shirt.
Carrick accepts it was always going to be difficult to undergo such a major upheaval at the midway point of a season, but the Boro boss has seen positive signs in the last couple of weeks to suggest that his squad is beginning to knit together nicely.
As a result, he is looking forward to see how things pan out in the final eight games of the season, with his side currently sitting three points adrift of the play-off positions.
“January was such a busy month, both in terms of some leaving us and some joining us,” said Carrick. “Over that spell, we had some tough games.

“Things have started to settle down a bit and you can certainly feel that around the place. It’s only natural. The boys seem to be settling and hopefully that’s a good sign for the games coming up.
“They definitely feel part of things, that happened quite quickly. But getting used to each other, wavelengths and understanding to play with each other, I think you can see that growing all the time.”
