An afternoon of entertainment is in store at Anfield as a team of Liverpool legends battle their Chelsea counterparts in a high-profile charity match. One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised from the game will support the work of LFC Foundation, as well as supporting beneficiaries – including Forever Reds, Chelsea FC Foundation and Chelsea Players' Trust.
Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Peter Crouch, Ryan Babel, Djibril Cisse and Sami Hyypia are among the headline names in a star-studded Liverpool Legends squad, whilst Chelsea are bringing a Legends squad to Merseyside that features many heroes including Gianfranco Zola, Claude Makelele, William Gallas and Eidur Gudjohnsen.
As a 20-year rivalry is renewed, in the opposing dugouts will be Reds icon Sir Kenny Dalglish and the Blues’ Champions League-winning manager Roberto Di Matteo. Furthermore, history will be made at Anfield this afternoon as Natasha Dowie and Katie Chapman become the first female players to feature in in the annual legends game.
