Wales
Blair Murray Another dynamic performance that will put him in the British & Irish Lions conversation. Pacy, incisive and exciting. 8
Ellis Mee A touch unlucky that kick ahead skewed into touch in first half. Was left exposed in defence at times. 6

Max Llewellyn Snatched at second-half chance with line beckoning (although he may argue against the quality of Mee’s pass). 5
Ben Thomas Accomplished finish to get Wales off mark, capping a fine move, but did not get much ball. Doubled up late. 7
Joe Roberts A surging run in the first half was a rare positive moment, but little service aside from that. 6
Gareth Anscombe A mixed bag with some good kicking from hand and was charged down at what felt like a key juncture. 5
Tomos Williams Arrowed a pass to Thomas for opening try and did his best to keep hosts moving despite a struggling pack. 7
Nicky Smith A crashing carry here and there but was never really on the front foot in any element of the contest. 6
Elliot Dee Some problems throwing into the lineout and went backwards at scrum time, little threat in the loose. 5
WillGriff John Acquitted himself well enough in the scrums but could not make an impression elsewhere on a difficult day. 6
Will Rowlands Provided ballast in attack and defence. Like his colleagues in the front eight, could not make much of an impact. 6
Dafydd Jenkins Dismantled at the breakdown by the Curry brothers and Ben Earl. Not one of his best days, but not alone. 4
Aaron Wainwright Combative and offered momentum with his carrying, including a rumbling short-range drive before Thomas’s first try. 6
Jac Morgan (capt) Passive in defence for Itoje’s opening try. Overshadowed in the loose by an all-action display from his back-row opponents. 5
Taulupe Faletau Never lacks effort but out-performed by England flankers. A heroic performer historically who will be hurt by the result.
Replacements: 5 Dewi Lake (for Dee, ht) 7; Gareth Thomas (for N Smith, 52) 6; Keiron Assiratti (for John, ht) 6; Teddy Williams (for Rowlands, 47) 7; Tommy Reffell (for Faletau, 52) 6; Rhodri Williams (for TG Williams, 47) 6; Jarrod Evans (for Anscombe, 47) 7; Nick Tompkins (for Llewellyn, 56) 6
England
Marcus Smith Another mixed bag but always lively and willing. Dynamic running and looked for teammates more instead of going alone. 6
Tom Roebuck Powerful early finish showed precisely what Borthwick sees in him. Contributed to a ruthless performance. 7
Tommy Freeman Took his try well, showing an ability to gel with the Saints contingent. Authoritative under the high ball when required. 8
Fraser Dingwall Linked with club colleagues well – doesn’t do anything flash but performs basics efficiently and keeps the attack moving. 7
Elliot Daly Solid on both sides of ball and always a perceptive presence in attack, with a consistently fine positional sense. 7

Fin Smith Another polished overall display, demonstrating an innate understanding of how to hurt the opposition most efficiently. 9
Alex Mitchell Set tempo, bossed his opposite number, kicked well. Knock-on almost let Murray in before sniping score crushed Welsh hopes. 8
Ellis Genge Displayed punishing ball-carrying power, some slick handling and got on top at scrum time to boot. Impressive day. 8
Luke Cowan-Dickie Showed excellent workrate to pull off a tap tackle on Blair Murray to deny the live-wire full-back a first-half score. 7
Will Stuart Gave away a scrum penalty early doors but got in on the scoring act and turned in another solid performance. 7
Maro Itoje (capt) Tons of grunt and effort, big workrate as always, perhaps over-eager and a bit fortunate not to attract TMO’s attention. 7
Ollie Chessum Withdrawn early due to injury. n/a
Tom Curry Contributed fair share to exceptional collective effort from the back row. Read the play well and made his tackles. 8
Ben Curry Delivered on his job description: a constant nuisance at the breakdown, tackled relentlessly and carried powerfully. 9
Ben Earl The most visible participant in a dominant back-row display. Turned over Welsh ball regularly, helping to build the lead. 9
Replacements: Chandler Cunningham-South (for Chessum, 18) Cracking tries 8; Jamie George (for Cowan-Dickie, 46) 6; Fin Baxter (for Genge, 62) 6; Joe Heyes (for Stuart, 46) 7; Henry Pollock (for Freeman, 48) Big impact 9; Tom Willis (for B Curry, 58) 6; Jack van Poortvliet (for Mitchell, 67) 6; George Ford (for F Smith, 55) 8
