Stanley’s Benn Ward scored his first EFL goal but a 94th-minute Gillingham equaliser meant the points were shared at the Wham Stadium.
Ward struck in the third minute of added time in the first half as The Reds looked on course for back-to-back wins.
But Max Cark’s added time blast meant John Coleman’s Gillingham rescued a point, with the former Reds boss given an ovation before the game as he returned to the Wham Stadium.
John Doolan kept with the same XI which overcame Newport County 5-0 midweek.
It was a competitive opening with the first chances falling to Gillingham with JJ Morgan firing wide and Joe Gbode heading off-target.
Stanley came so close, but were denied by Gills keeper Glenn Morris on 22 minutes. First the stopper kept out Jake Batty’s blast with his legs and then tipped a Ben Woods follow-up long-range strike over the bar.
Devon Matthews headed over minutes later, while Kelsey Mooney could not make the breakthrough from close range.
However, Stanley opened the scoring in the third minute of added when a Woods free-kick on the left was fired home by the inrushing Ward in the six-yard box.
The Gills pressed in the second half, forcing a number of corners and free-kicks, but still struggled to test Billy Crellin.
However a short free-kick was lashed home by Clark - the Gills’ first shot on target in the game - to earn a share of the spoils.
