JOSH Dacres-Cogley has signed a new one-year deal with Wanderers.
The defender confirmed that he agreed a new contract with the club several weeks ago and is hoping his third season with the club can be as a Championship player.
Dacres-Cogley, who turned 29 this week, is in line to play his 99th game for the club this weekend against Stockport County and should theoretically hit the century against Blackpool after the international break.
And he is upbeat after agreeing to extend his stay with Wanderers that he can help them get over the promotion hurdle after two near misses.
“That was always the plan when I came here to Bolton,” he told The Bolton News. “I'll be here for another year. I kind of wanted to keep it quiet, crack on with football. It was a joint decision with a few other people.
“It didn't really phase me. But I'm obviously really happy to continue here for another year and help the team try and get where they need to be.”
Dacres-Cogley had recently been linked with a move to Leyton Orient but with the deal agreed well in advance of the summer he said there had been no discussions with other clubs.
“I didn't really think of that,” he said. “That didn't really come to my head. I am really happy here. I know what the club can do and the team that we've got, and I believe in us.
“So, it was kind of a no-brainer to stay on.”
