Members of the renowned Bolton Olympic Wrestling Academy (BOWA) returned from their latest competition with another huge haul of medals.
The club competitors attended the Windsor Open Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Championships to compete against some of the best opponents from around Europe in all age groups.
And they brought back four golds, four silvers and a bronze after another successful outing.
Megan Kipling, Mia Kipling, Amelia Berry and James Pilkington each earned hard-fought gold medals, while Bobby Miles, Elham Afzali, Tomasz Lipinski and Mollie Tennant came away with silvers.
Jenson Berry won a bronze medal and Damian Lipinski placed fourth in two tough weight categories.
There were also great performances from Jonathan Rogers and Tomasz Lipinski representing the senior team.
All the athletes representing BOWA excelled at the event and their energy, passion, and dedication shone through and made this tournament unforgettable for the club.
Junior wrestlers Bobby Miles, who picked up one of the silvers at the age of just 10 years old, described his individual success as “the best day of my life ever, well so far any way”.
Meanwhile, club coach, Jesse Bradbury, said: “I’m proud of our wrestlers and supporters.
“We saw some fantastic performances on the mats with great effort, determination and skill on display throughout the whole day.
“Beyond the results, what stood out the most was the support and camaraderie within our team.
“From cheering each other on to offering encouragement after tough matches, it was brilliant to see our wrestling family in full force.”
Fellow coach Lee Meadows added: “These results are a great way of celebrating the diversity of sport in Bolton and everyone at the academy is very proud of all of our athletes and their individual achievements.”
