Liverpool have been dealt a potential blow in their pursuit of a right-back this summer with Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Anfield still unclear.
The Reds academy gradate is in the final few months of his contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer. Alexander-Arnold was forced off in the second half of the recent defeat to PSG in the Champions League through injury, dealing a major blow to Arne Slot's Carabao Cup Final preparations with Connor Bradley also out injured.
The Reds are expected to bolster that position come the end of the season, with Alexander-Arnold yet to sign a new deal. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, who was on course to be out of contract at the end of the season but he looks set to sign a new deal at the Bundesliga Giants.

Bayer Keverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong is another player to have been linked with a move to Anfield and recent reports claim there have been concrete enquiries for the Dutch international from unnamed clubs.
Sky Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, relayed information from his colleague Marlon Irlbacher, tweeting: "Jeremie Frimpong is ready for the next step and is planning a move in summer.
"Spain and England are two concrete options for him. There are already concrete enquiries. The 24-y/o right wing-back can leave Leverkusen for around €40million[£33.6m] in summer."

It remains to be seen if Liverpool are among the interested clubs, but Frimpong has previously claimed that he was once on the verge of signing for the Reds - only to pull the plug on the deal and sign for Man City instead.
“I was playing striker and scored a hat-trick in a final, I won player of the tournament,” the 24-year-old recalled to " target="_blank" class="link c2"> Rising Ballers. “There were scouts there like Liverpool, Bolton, Man City and a lot more.
"But I chose Liverpool first. I was going to sign for them but back then, driving wasn’t a thing, my family wasn’t driving like that and it was far."
Frimpong would instead sign for the Reds' Premier League rivals before leaving the club in 2019, signing for Scottish Premiership side Celtic. He impressed north of the border and signed for Leverkusen in 2021 and has become a mainstay at right-back having helped Xabi Alonso's side win the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup last season.
