Tunmise Sobowale said that Swindon Town feel capable of beating anyone at home right now as their strong run in front of their supporters continued.
Kabongo Tshimanga’s penalty made it eight games undefeated in a row for Swindon as they moved two points off the top half of the table with a victory over Chesterfield.
Since defeat against Morecambe in November, Town have won six and drawn two, against playoff sides Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra, as the home form has become the backbone of their upturn.
Sobowale said that it feels like Town have a 12th man when they play at The Nigel Eady County Ground, giving them the confidence to continue this strong run.
He said: “Obviously it helps when you win games and I feel like every team coming to Swindon right now are looking at a team that is very organised.
“It is like we have a 12th man with the fans around as well and that is helping to make us very difficult to beat.
“I think that playing at home throughout the whole season we have been good, although we were unlucky in some parts.
“When you win games, it builds that confidence and the momentum at home is great for us at the moment.
“It feels like we can beat anyone when we play at home.
“And from now until the end of the season I think that our home record can still improve and we can even play a lot better with more goals and clean sheets because that is what we are aiming for.”
Sobowale’s own versatility has seen him used in a myriad of different positions this season and the defender praised the coaching staff at Swindon for helping him to adapt to those different responsibilities.
He said: “I came here as a right wing-back but the coaches have identified that I can play as a centre-back and on the right of a three and they have given me a lot of confidence to play in these positions.
“They have given me the information and nurtured me in each position, so going in I am confident that I can play there and do my part for the team.
“I have always known I could do it but it is the coaching staff and the players around me who have helped me to perform and add those little details in my game so I can be comfortable.”
