Seven-game unbeaten run comes to end for Hoops - Iqraa news

OXFORD City’s seven-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at home against Hereford.

Phil Croker went close to putting the Hoops in front after five minutes with a header, and then City did manage to take the lead just before quarter of an hour had been played.

Croker recycled a deep cross and played the ball to Tom Scott, who in turn fed Jayden Carbon, who dummied and then calmly rolled a strike into the bottom corner.

Seven minutes after nudging in front though, the Hoops were pegged back. Omari Sterling-James stole the ball on halfway and led a Bulls counter-attack which resulted in Yusifu Ceesay drilling home.

City needed an excellent save from Kai McKenzie-Lyle to palm away a Remaye Campbell effort 10 minutes before the break, allowing the score to remain level at half-time.

The Bulls, aiming to finish in the Vanarama National League North play-offs, ramped up the pressure in the second period though, seeing Tate Campbell crash an effort against the crossbar, while Jaiden White forced another save out of McKenzie-Lyle.

The Bulls though made their pressure pay shortly after an hour had been played. Sterling-James tried his luck from distance, and the ball squirmed through the gloves of McKenzie-Lyle, giving Remaye Campbell the simplest task of tapping the loose ball into an unguarded Hoops net from pretty much on the goal line.

City are 18th in the National League North table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone with three games to go in the season.
