‘An absolute disgrace’: Chris Wilder slams abuse after U’s defeat - Iqraa news

CHRIS Wilder slammed sections of the Sheffield United fanbase which criticised his team after their defeat at Oxford United.

Wilder returned to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday with a Blades side competing for the Sky Bet Championship title.

However, a Siriki Dembele goal seven minutes before half-time proved the difference between the sides.

Asked about criticism from some away supporters at Grenoble Road, Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield: “Do you know what? That’s an absolute disgrace. An absolute disgrace to the players that represent the football club and what they’ve done this season.

“Before, I was talking to my media guy and maybe he told me to stay away from it, but I’ll meet it head-on, and it’s a joke. It’s a disgrace.

“If that’s what you think of the players, when we do have the good days, don’t be clapping. Go home. Be consistent.

“I appreciate all the support that we’ve had all season away from home, and it’s been outstanding at home as well, and we’ll need it on Tuesday night because we’ve got to lift the players again.

“They’re disappointed about what happened on Saturday. We had an opportunity of breaking a club record on Saturday afternoon and we just weren’t good enough.

“Do you know what? That’s sometimes how football is. You can’t put your finger on it, you can assess it and analyse it at half-time and afterwards, and be deeply disappointed like we all are.

“We all wear our heart on our sleeve. Myself, the club captain, the players that are giving everything for the football club to get us to 85 points [two points deducted for defaulted transfer payments] in this position with six games to go.”
