Under a clear blue sky, we headed for the Toughsheet with our heads held high after finally laying our Wigan bogey to rest on Tuesday night.

Despite it not being the best match we’ve seen, the Doombar deliberations were buzzing about the happy ending and the post-match celebrations. Somehow, we have found ourselves back in the last play-off position after losing three matches on the bounce.

Could we keep the momentum going against the Pirates of Bristol Rovers, a team we slipped up against at the Memorial Stadium, a few weeks ago? Nowadays, they like to be known as ‘the Gas’, after the Gas works next to their former stadium, Eastville.

Another bumper crowd was guaranteed as it was the final Community game of the season, and it was dedicated to ‘Her Game Too’ as well.

The first half was awful, when both goalkeepers might as well have sat with the crowd, as they were redundant. Sadly, the only thing that happened was a serious looking injury to Will Forrester, which could keep him out for the season.

The second half was marginally better as we gradually got on top and the crowd was boosted when Kyle Dempsey finally came on. It lifted the team and Aaron Collins got on the end of a quality cross from Gethin Jones and we had the winner. Another three points in the bag from another tight match.

Six matches to go and we are in with a shout for sixth place, along with four other teams, Reading, Huddersfield Town, Blackpool and Leyton Orient. We are going to have to scrap for every point. It’s points that count, not performances at this stage of the proceedings.

We have to find a way to win these matches, just like we have done in the last two games. The fans are up for it as we proved at Wigan and we will prove at Barnsley, Lincoln City and Peterborough United. The players know that we are all in this together. It is a time for heroes to emerge.

It’s squeaky bum time again, so let’s get behind the lads and see where we end up.
