AN ISLE of Wight football game had to be abandoned yesterday (Saturday) – after a player broke his leg.
The Memorial Cup semi-final fixture between High Park and Whitecroft and Barton ended in the 54th minute after High Park’s Billy Haylor broke his leg during a challenge and an ambulance was called.
The game was tied at 1-1 when it was abandoned.
The club is keen to thank everyone who helped Billy get comfortable while awaiting the arrival of paramedics.
High Park’s reserves, meanwhile, battled it out with West Wight reserves, losing 1-3.
“We regroup and go again,” said High Park manager Stuart Woodmore.
“Couldn’t be prouder of the 14 first team lads and 12 ‘ressie’ boys who went to war for the club today.”
