Paul Glatzel is focusing on playing as much as he can before the end of the season as his Swindon Town contract draws to a close.

Having joined last January, Glatzel was Swindon’s star man in the back half of the 2023/24 season, as he scored seven goals in 19 appearances.

Having had a one-year optional extension exercised in the summer, he has struggled more this campaign, starting just 14 times in League Two and scoring three goals.

Ian Holloway started him in two of Town’s last three matches, and the former Liverpool man said he was concentrating on keeping that going more than what the future may hold beyond May.

He said: “I have not played as much as I would have liked for various reasons, but I have always dug in during training and trained well.

“I can’t do any more than that, I have been putting the effort in, so whether I get to play from the start or if I come on, I have just got to do my bit and show what I am capable of.

“I am enjoying playing more recently, and hopefully, I continue to get more minutes.

“I don’t think it [being out of contract] adds any extra pressure; everyone wants to play, and I have not played as much as I would have liked, but it is about doing my bit whenever I get the chance, whether that is off the bench or starting the game.

“I have not really looked into my contract situation yet as there is still football to be played, and whilst there is still football to be played, that is all that I should be focusing on.”

Glatzel added that he believes that if he can continue to get regular football before the end of the season, then the goals will start to come.

He said: “Goals and assists are a big part of the game, but I think it is important to be creating chances and effective around the final third and helping the boys out.

“I think I have been doing that recently, I would like to score more, but I would rather be in those positions than not getting a sniff.

“I think that it helps if you have a run of games and get a bit of a rhythm behind you.

“I am happy to be in those positions, and I think the lads will tell you, if those chances are in training, then they are goals.”
