Kabongo Tshimanga said that it was a strange experience taking two penalties in one game as Swindon Town defeated AFC Wimbledon.

The Peterborough United loanee had to step up twice in the 90th and 95th minutes to help Swindon turn around the game and extend their unbeaten home run to the second-longest point this century.

This was yet another example of Swindon’s ability to turn games around, being the 11th time this season they have snatched a result in the final 15 minutes, and no team has taken more points after falling behind.

For Tshimanga, he made it five out of five from the penalty spot this season; only Mo Salah, Justin Kluivert, Harry Kane, and Ante Budimir can boast a better record than that in the EFL and Europe’s top five leagues.

Speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire about his late heroics, Tshimanga said that taking two spot-kicks against the same goalkeeper was a new experience for him.

He said: “It is always nice to tuck them away. I know that I have got the responsibility from the spot.

“That is not easy as everyone is watching and waiting, but you just have to stay cool and calm, so I am grateful to have tucked it away.

“I don’t think that I have ever had to take two penalties in the same game, so that was a weird experience for me personally.

“I just had to concentrate; it was like the first one, having to stay really composed and know where I want to go.

“I have got a routine that works for me, and it is just about keeping that same routine, so luckily, it worked.”

Harry Smith told BBC Radio Wiltshire after the match that he “knew this man [Tshimanga] was going to score.”

Ian Holloway was equally enthused by the calmness of his forward, but also praised everything that he had offered to the team.

He said: "I thought he was excellent, without Harry up there, he showed how strong he was.

"He was cool as a cucumber, and it was absolutely brilliant.

"We were missing a few, and I just said to him, 'Why couldn't you take all of those other ones?'

"He is a great man and a proper professional, even when I don't pick him, he tries harder than anyone else to get back into the team.

"That is why having good pros is so important, and I am absolutely delighted for him.”
