HEREFORD Pegasus Ladies came out on the wrong end of an 11-goal thriller when they lost 6-5 to Droitwich Spa in the West Midlands Regional Women's League First Division (South) at a sun-drenched KGD Stadium.
The visitors opened the scoring after 13 minutes, but Pegasus turned the match around just before the half-hour mark when Harriet Adams scored two goals in as many minutes to put her team ahead for the first time.
The Worcestershire club levelled the score in the 36th minute before regaining the lead in first-half stoppage time to conclude an entertaining opening 45 minutes.
Pegasus captain Scarlett Teague drew her team back on terms in the opening minute of the second half when her 40 yard free-kick flew into the top corner of the Spa goal.
The Worcestershire outfit regained the lead three minutes later before extending their advantage in the 59th minute following a quickly-taken corner.
Adams completed her hat-trick in the 72nd minute after coolly finishing past the Spa custodian after being picked out by Emily Morgan.
Morgan drew Pegasus level four minutes later when she pounced on a misdirected goal kick.
It appeared that Pegasus now held the initiative and would go on to claim all three points.
However, disaster struck with six minutes remaining when the hosts lost the ball in midfield and Droitwich Spa counter-attacked quickly to score what turned out to be the winning goal despite late pressure from Pegasus in the closing minutes.
The result leaves Hereford Pegasus Ladies second from bottom in the West Midlands Regional Women's League First Division (South), but with three other sides within four points of them.
Pegasus have three league games remaining starting with a trip to fifth placed Redditch United Women on Sunday.
