Ex-NI boss Ian Baraclough on 'final shortlist' for sporting director role - Iqraa news

Former Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough is on the final shortlist for the new sporting director role at Partick Thistle.

Baraclough - succeeded Michael O'Neill at the NI helm in 2020 and spent two years in the international hot-seat before his sacking in October 2022 - reportedly impressed in the first round of talks with the Firhill club

The 54-year-old is expected to hold further talks this week, with Thistle also planning to speak to the other candidates.

Baraclough is currently director of football at English National League club AFC Fylde, but has previously managed clubs including Scunthorpe United, Sligo Rovers, and Motherwell.

He also spent three years in charge of Northern Ireland Under 21s before his promotion in 2020 when O'Neill joined Stoke City.

Ex-Thistle manager Ian McCall is another who is another major contender for the new role. The former Scotland midfielder has had two spells as boss, has also held talks with the club last week.

Former Kilmarnock manager Lee Clark is another who has held talks over the job, reports the Daily Record.

Thistle are looking to confirm an appointment by the end of the week and they will then turn their attention to their next manager.

Captain Brian Graham and Mark Wilson have been in temporary charge of first-team affairs since Kris Doolan was sacked.
