Gavin Kilkenny is not giving up on the possibility of Swindon Town making the playoffs despite a 0-0 draw against Accrington Stanley.

Swindon were shut out for at home for only the second time at home this year as they were not able to make their possessional dominance count.

A fourth successive draw means that the gap to the top seven remains at 11 points with only eight matches remaining.

Kilkenny said that whilst the possibility of making the playoffs was slim, he would not give up on trying.

He said: "It is a shame because we look at it now as a squad and know that we should be up there.

"But, obviously, we didn't start as well as we could have this season.

"It is now just about taking every game at a time and see how many we can win and how close we can get.

"Of course, it is frustrating that we didn't find this form quicker but that is just what happens.

"It just took a little bit longer than we probably wanted to gel.

"But you never know, hopefully, we can finish strong and then going into next season, if we don't get in the playoffs, then we will be ready to go and we can be right up there in the playoff spots or above.

"We are just looking to win every game, one at a time, that is what we tried to do today and unfortunately we haven't done it."

Kilkenny added that he felt that Swindon had been the better side against Accrington and were frustrated not to have taken maximum points.

He said: "It is a shame that we didn't get the three points because I think that we probably had the better chances and things.

"It felt a little bit like they came here happy to get a point.

"We are obviously disappointed not to win, but we know it was a good performance and so we are not too down about it.

"We learned loads from last week, we got the draw in the end but we were slow out of the traps and we probably didn't compete well enough all over the pitch.

"Today we felt a little bit better in that sense, we know what a typical Accrington team looks like winning their battles and we stood up to that and had the better play, so that is why we were disappointed not to win."
