CANVEY Island upset the odds to beat Hornchurch in the Essex Senior Cup final tonight.
The Gulls went into the game sitting just above the relegation zone in the Isthmian Premier Division, 28 league places below their National League South opponents.

Hornchurch broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute with Charlee Adams on target.

That seemed to have secured victory for the Urchins but Canvey kept fighting and drew back level in the second minute of stoppage time with Bradley Sach hitting the back of the net.
The late leveller took the tie to penalties which the Gulls won 4-2, with Sach netting the decisive spot-kick
