Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town fans had to be separated by police after appearing to clash in the town centre.

The two sides took part in thrilling 3-3 draw at The County Ground on Saturday, March 15, with Ian Holloway admitting he couldn’t believe what he had witnessed.

Off the pitch, sections of both sets of supporters were seemingly separated by police during an incident at the junction of Wellington Street and Manchester Road, near Swindon Railway Station.

A video posted by Twitter account Football Fights showed multiple fans fighting with each other before police officers intervened.

The two groups were then ushered down opposite ends of the road, with police shouting at them to “get back.”

Both sets of fans could be hearing singing during the altercation.

Town went on to salvage a late draw in the game itself despite falling 3-1 behind, thanks to goals from Will Wright, Kabongo Tshimanga, and Ollie Clarke.

The result leaves Holloway’s side 15th in the table as the season enters its final months.
