Joel Cotterill has been selected for the Wales Under-21 squad for the forthcoming friendly matches against Andorra and Sweden.
After his impressive performances for Swindon and for the Welsh under-21s, Matty Jones has brought him into his squad as one of 12 members of the squad who have previously played at this level.
Cotterill has twice selected for his country since joining Swindon on loan back in September and October, scoring a brace against Iceland in Reykjavik and featuring against Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Ian Holloway will now have to do without him for the game against Accrington Stanley at the Nigel Eady County Ground later this month to allow him to join up with the rest of the squad in Valencia, where both games will be taking place.
Colwill is one of five players in the squad currently playing in League Two, alongside Zac Williams and Calum Agius of Crewe Alexandra, Callum Tripp of Milton Keynes Dons, and Cameron Congreave, who is a teammate of Cotterill’s at Swansea City on loan at Bromley.
Swindon are already doing without Aaron Drinan in attacking areas due to his season-ending knee injury and this absence will likely provide an opportunity for Danny Butterworth, Botan Ameen, Joe Westley, or Paul Glatzel.
