Swindon Harriers finished the Oxfordshire Cross Country League with a massive 18 medals across their competitors.

That represents another highly successful campaign for the club over the five fixtures with huge success across the team and individual competitions.

Individual golds were won by Emma Hines in the women’s over-50s, Ella Spencer in the under-17s, Finley Byrne in the under-15s, and Charissa Griffiths-Clack in the under-13s, with the five team golds going to the senior men, under-15 boys, under-11 boys, under-13 girls and under-11 girls.

Young athletes team manager Michael Beard said: “It is testimony to the strength and depth at the club that we are not reliant on a few. If one person cannot make it, others are there to fill the space.

“It has been a privilege to have been part of a spectacular and special first season as junior team manager and all plaudits to athletes, parents, coaches and my wife for making that possible.”

Rookie Megan Rose won all three under-nines races she was allowed to contest while older brother Daniel was third behind clubmate Loki Fisher in the under-11s age group.

Beard added: “Megan has had an outstanding first season with us. A matter of being a few days too young, otherwise she would have lifted the title. Bring on next year!”
