Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday's Champions League exit when they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final this weekend. The Reds suffered a heartbreaking exit in Europe at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain to end their chances of a treble.

But Arne Slot's side can still claim a domestic double, starting with this weekend's cup final at Wembley Stadium. Liverpool won last season's competition and will be confident of retaining it against a Newcastle side with several injury problems.

The Reds will also be looking to wrap up a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title over the next few months. Slot's men currently sit 15 points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table.

With all that said, below are the latest media reports on Liverpool;

Schlotterbeck 'interest'

Liverpool are said to be interested in Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck as a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk. The Reds captain faces an uncertain future at Anfield with his contract due to expire this summer.

And German publication Bild have claimed that Schlotterbeck is of interest on Merseyside. It is claimed that Liverpool are willing to pay €50million (around £42m) for the Germany international.

The report adds that Dortmund's likely absence from Europe next season will make it difficult for them to retain Schlotterbeck's services going into the 2025/26 campaign.

Kerkez message

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has heaped praise on Liverpool-linked Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez. The Reds are said to be interested in signing the Hungarian as they reportedly look for a new left-back.

And Kerkez was impressive during the Cherries' 2-2 draw at Tottenham last weekend, a performance which has received special praise from Wright.

“If anybody has any doubts of this man’s quality, just watch the cross against Tottenham," he said on his podcast Wrighty’s House. "The thing that will people will say is: ‘Well look how much time and space he had.’

“The fact is, to have that much time and space and then still go, no, I’m not going to carry it anymore, I can see Tavernier trying to get on the back of Djed Spence at the back and I’m going to curl this 25 yards right onto his foot with time and space in front of me, is a skill that people do not appreciate. I would buy him off of that pass alone.”
