Aston Villa are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 6-1 aggregate win over Club Brugge.

Unai Emery’s men booked their last eight tie with Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-0 victory to follow up their 3-1 success in Belgium.

Once again Marco Asensio was the toast of Villa Park with a brace that combined with Ian Maatsen’s goal to see Villa through.

The Spaniard has not only struck up a productive partnership with Marcus Rashford, he has scored seven goals in his last five matches to establish himself as a firm favourite with his new fans.

He will now face his parent club PSG in the last eight – but Villa fans want the relationship to be longer than that.

Here’s a flavour of what was being said about Asensio on social media.

@ TalkRhythmics : We MUST sign him permanently. It's like he's returned to Prime Real Madrid Marco since coming to Villa, and it's his first time playing in the Prem! Coutinho came back to the Prem, where he made his name, and wasn't anywhere close to what Asensio has already done.
