Aston Villa will play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals after beating Club Brugge 3-0 in tonight's second leg and 6-1 on aggregate.

Unai Emery's side started the second leg with a two-goal lead having won 3-1 at the Jan Breydel Stadium last Tuesday and were playing against 10 men for the vast majority of the game after Kyriani Sabbe was sent off in the 17th minute.

Emi Martinez played an inch-perfect long ball to Rashford in behind, who was bearing down on Simon Mignolet in the Brugge goal, before Sabbe brought him down outside the box.

In the 31st minute, Youri Tielemans found Ollie Watkins making a run past Joel Ordonez, but the Brugge defender recovered well and dispossessed the striker.

Rashford was presented with Villa's best chance of the half after being picked out by Mings. On his weaker side, Rashford could only find the side-netting.

After being introduced for the start of the second half, Leon Bailey found Asensio inside the box with a clever pass, before the Spaniard converted from close range.

He nearly doubled his and Villa's tally on the night when played through by Tielemans, but he struck the post. After Ian Maatsen turned Morgan Rogers' cross in for Villa's second goal, Asensio bagged his brace.

The PSG loanee slotted the ball home after Rashford raced down the left wing and rolled the ball across the box.

Player ratings

Emi Martinez

After missing the win over Brentford through injury, Martinez returned to the starting XI. He played a sensational long pass to find Rashford running in behind, before Sabbe took him down and was sent off. The Argentina international will be delighted to have kept his second clean sheet of the calendar year and his fifth in the Champions League. 8

Matty Cash

Cash made his first start since VIlla's 2-1 victory over Chelsea nearly three weeks ago. Apart from a misplaced pass across the edge of the box, Cash completed the other 12 he attempted in the first half. He locked down the right side and wasn't threatened by Christos Tzolis. 7

Ezri Konsa

Konsa strolled through the game. It was another strong performance on the Champions League stage for the England international. 7

Tyrone Mings

Mings made his third successive start after impressing in the first leg against Brugge and at the Gtech Community Stadium last weekend. He provided Rashford with a great chance to break the deadlock, before trying to open the scoring himself at the start of the second half when he slammed at goal, only to be denied by Mignolet. 7

Ian Maatsen

Maatsen came back into the XI tonight, making his third Champions League start. He won the ball back in the final third in the 13th minute and was a constant outlet on the wing. He scored his first goal for the club after popping up in the box to score from Rogers' cross. 8

Boubacar Kamara

After returning from injury in the first leg last week, Kamara made his first start for nearly a month. He was replaced at the break. 6

Youri Tielemans

Tielemans remains an ever-present in the Villa team, starting all of the club's Champions League and Premier League matches so far this campaign. He played an exquisite pass through to Watkins just after the half an hour mark, but the forward couldn't quite carry on to goal. Asensio should have scored after Tielemans played another perfect ball through, but he hit the post. 8

Morgan Rogers

Rogers played off the right tonight as opposed to in the number 10 role. He was involved in the first half, but provided Maatsen with the chance to double Villa's lead. 7

John McGinn

It was McGinn who played centrally - he was busy out of possession, dropping deep and covering ground. Emery hailed the captain's versatility in his pre-match press conference, so he would've had no worries about playing him in the double pivot when Kamara came off at the break. 7

Marcus Rashford

Rashford was Villa's brightest player in the first half. His movement in behind put Sabbe in a position where he had to either concede a big chance or take a red card. He chose the latter. Rashford had Villa's best chance in the first period when he flashed the ball into the side-netting inside the box. He assisted Asensio's second goal of the night. 8

Ollie Watkins

Watkins picked up a knock towards the end of the first half, but was happy to continue into half-time. He was then taken off in the interval. 6

SUBS

Leon Bailey (for Watkins, 46'): Bailey produced his fourth assist of the season shortly after coming on for the start of the second half. 8

Pau Torres (for Mings, 66'): Great to see Torres back in action after missing over two months with a broken metatarsal. 6
