Bruno Fernandes was the key man for Manchester United as his excellent free-kick earned Ruben Amorim's side a point against Arsenal in a game that saw demonstrations against the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

United had offered nothing in the first half but took the lead on the stroke of the break thanks to a brilliant Fernandes free-kick, struck with power over the Arsenal wall and beyond the diving David Raya.

Arsenal turned up the pressure after the break and their equaliser arrived through Declan Rice, who exploited the space left on the edge of the area to drive home a shot from 16 yards.

Here are the moments you might have missed from Sunday's draw:

Amorim's Onana support

The Old Trafford crowd had been losing patience with Andre Onana for a few weeks and tension rose to the surface again in the first half. He slashed one kick along the floor and then sent another straight out of play. A goalkeeper signed for his distribution is now a liability with the ball at his feet.

The perfect comparison arrived less than 60 seconds after the second of those incidents. Raya calmly chipped a 40-yard pass into midfield, breaking a United line in the process and starting an attack that ended a few seconds later with a shot at goal.

It was an unflattering comparison for a goalkeeper who is rapidly becoming an issue for Amorim, but it was telling in the second half that when Onana launched another goal kick straight out for a throw-in, the head coach turned to him and clapped his hands above his head. It was a gesture seen by the goalkeeper, who put his thumbs up towards the bench.

It might not be what United spent £47million on, but it showed that he was following the instructions set out for him. With this defence, there was little faith in the ability to play out from the back.

Zirkzee pep talk

Amorim spent a few seconds reminded Joshua Zirkzee of his instructions just 10 minutes into the game and he had already been on at him before that to step up and press, continually sitting too deep as Arsenal built possession with ease.

It was another reminder that Zirkzee just isn't a striker and another arrived a few minutes later. Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho combined to inject some rare pace into an attack and Garnacho's low cross was perfect for a striker to tap in from six yards.

Instead, Zirkzee was watching 10 yards further back. He doesn't have the hunger or the goalscoring instinct to get into those classic No.9 positions.

Fernandes interventions

Fernandes showed his value to United in the final third once again in this game but it was his passion and leadership that were just as valuable. You saw the emotion flow out of him in the celebration for his goal and there was another release early in the second half.

It came as United's players swarmed their Arsenal counterparts in a burst of aggression, finally forcing them out of play and Fernandes roared his approval to the supporters in front of him in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand. It was a reminder of just how much he loves this club.

He was also showing that captaincy role at half-time, when Anthony Taylor's whistle denied United a counterattack. Zirkzee was furious and ready to confront Taylor, only for Fernandes to quickly intervene and calm his teammate down.

Glazer who?

The Stretford End spent a good chunk of this game singing Glazer protest songs but when the TV director showed a shot of the directors' box at Old Trafford they focused in on Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is bearing the brunt of the protests as well.

What they didn't realise was that the forehead included in the shot sat directly in front of Ratcliffe was that of Edward Glazer. It's been a long time since a member of the Glazer family attended Old Trafford and so low-key is Edward that the TV cameras had no idea who he was.

He could probably have walked around Old Trafford on a day when thousands of fans protested against the Glazer ownership and not been questioned. It was a bizarre choice of game to attend and a day when he must have got the message.
