Declan Rice cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick as Arsenal were held to a draw by Manchester United.
Fernandes put United ahead just before half time by curling a free-kick past David Raya, whose positioning was suspect.
Arsenal had dominated plenty of possession before that, but they had struggled to create many clear-cut chances.
Rice, however, came to their rescue and found the net 16 minutes before the end with a great finish from the edge of the penalty area.
Simon Collings was at Old Trafford to see Arsenal in action...
David Raya 8
Questionable positioning for United’s goal, but he more than made up for it after the break with three great saves to deny Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui and Fernandes.
Jurrien Timber 7
Has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers this season. Created the equaliser with a great run forward.
William Saliba 6
Bullied Zirkzee, especially in the first half, and gave the striker nothing to feed off. Part of a shaky defence after the break, though.
Gabriel 6
Like Saliba, he gave Zirkzee very little all game. Made a good block late on when Rasmus Hojlund almost pounced on a cut-back.
Riccardo Calafiori 6
Earned a start after an impressive showing off the bench against PSV Eindhoven. Lively going forward, again, but at times vulnerable when United countered.
Martin Odegaard 6
Started the game well and created a good chance for Mikel Merino with a jinking run. Struggled to open United up when they sat deep.
Thomas Partey 6
A steady performance at the base of midfield. Arsenal dominated a lot of the possession and he helped control the game.
Declan Rice 8 | Star player
Arsenal’s best player on a frustrating afternoon. Scored Arsenal’s equaliser with an excellent finish from the edge of the box and made a stunning tackle late on to deny Hojlund.
Ethan Nwaneri 6
A couple of bright moments out on his wing and got past his opposite number a few times to put balls in the box. Hooked before the hour mark.
Mikel Merino 5
A fourth start in a row upfront for the midfielder. Went close with an early effort, but dragged the shot wide. Almost gifted United a winner with a loose pass to Hojlund.
Leandro Trossard 5
A frustrating afternoon for the Belgian. Got into a number of good positions, but final cross or shot was lacking. Wasteful.
Substitutions
Gabriel Martinelli (Nwaneri 58’) 6
A surprise substitute after returning early from injury. Looked bright and pace helped Arsenal’s attack.
Myles Lewis-Skelly (Calafiori 58’) 6
A solid cameo, tried to get on the ball and give Arsenal some drive from left-back.
Kieran Tierney (Partey 76’) N/A
Subs not used: Neto, White, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Sterling
