Former Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen has been a figure of interest for Man United for the past few seasons, but to get the deal over the line the club could consider a huge deal including a summer swap for Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.
The Nigerian forward is thought of as one of the most prolific number 9s in world football but after failing to secure a move in the summer, has been frozen out of Antonio Conte's team and was sent out on loan to Galatasaray until the end of the season.
Last season the 26-year-old bagged 17 goals and provided four assists in his 32 appearances at Napoli, and in his 28 matches in Turkey has scored another 22 proving he has held his form despite the change in clubs with United also holding their interest.
However, there may be one large hurdle preventing him from a move to Old Trafford. The striker is chasing an astronomical wage of a reported £400,000 a week according to Football Insider. The forward's release clause is reported to be around the £62 million mark when it drops this summer - making the move a particularly expensive one for Sir Jim Ratcliffe if they choose to go for a permanent move.
However, according to Italian outlet TUTTOmercatoWeb a potential solution may lie in a surprise swap deal for Danish international Rasmus Hojlund. Offloading Hojlund's wages would not only help to mitigate the financial strain on the club, but also heavily reduce the transfer bill handed to United.

The news site believes the deal could be especially attractive to Napoli who are on the search for a new striker to offer a replacement for a declining Romelu Lukaku and an unhappy Giovanni Simeone who is looking for regular first-team minutes. Hojlund is also thought to want a more reasonable wage - currently, he earns around £3.5 million a season - around half that of Osimhen.
Speaking on his " target="_blank" class="link c2"> YouTube channel Fabrizio Romano revealed: "But as of today, the beginning of March, Man United still don't know how much they can spend in terms of transfer fee and in terms of salary for a player like Osimhen who is not going to change his salary.
"€12 million net (£9.9m) at Napoli is his current salary and Osimhen is not going to reduce it. So it's going to be important to see how much Manchester United can spend in terms of financial fair play, European competitions, so there are several things to see, and what Osimhen wants to do.
"There is still an important job to do before we can say Osimhen is going to Man United or any other club. He's focused on Galatasaray."
