Valerien Ismael's first game as Blackburn Rovers head coach ended level as a 97th-minute equaliser from Andi Weimann rescued a point against Norwich City.
There was late controversy at Ewood Park as Emmanuel Dennis was sent off five minutes before full-time for a second yellow card. With a man advantage, Norwich then netted what looked like the winner in the 90th minute through Ante Crnac.
Anis Ben Slimane missed the Canaries' best opportunity as he somehow shot wide after being picked out in the box, unmarked, 15 yards out. Kellen Fisher then found himself free at the back post but sliced a left-footed shot wide.
Rovers struggled to fashion many clear-cut chances but did have moments. Makhtar Gueye saw a header deflected over the crossbar. Weimann then went close as his flicked header narrowly missed the far post, having come on at the hour-mark.
There was a late flashpoint as Emmanuel Dennis was shown a second yellow card and dismissed. He challenged at the back post for a loose ball with Ben Chrisene and Leigh Doughty deemed that worthy to send him off.
Norwich then took advantage and scored late as Crnac fired past Aynsley Pears to delight the travelling fans.
However, Rovers managed to secure a share of the spoils as Weimann headed in a late equaliser for the ten men.
Ismael made three changes to the team that was beaten at Swansea City. Hayden Carter was recalled for his first Championship start since October, whilst Todd Cantwell returned from injury and Augustus Kargbo was handed a maiden league start. Sondre Tronstad was named on the bench after his six-week absence with a hamstring issue.
Norwich settled the quicker of the two teams and were causing Rovers issues with their narrow shape. They set up in a 4-3-2-1 with two forwards tucked in around Josh Sargent, with the full-backs providing all the width.
They used that to their advantage early on and created a glorious chance for Slimane. Norwich worked it well down their right and Lewis Dobbin cut the ball back for the onrushing midfielder but he shot wide when unmarked from 15 yards.
That was a let-off for Rovers, who grew into the game after a tentative first 15. Kargbo began to cause more problems at the opposite end, with the game largely a battle of the flanks.
Fisher found himself unmarked at the back post as the ball dropped to him at the back post. But after cutting inside on his left, he sliced the shot wide; a finish befitting of a full-back.
The two teams continued to trade attacks without overly testing the goalkeepers. Gueye's header was deflected over after Yuri Ribeiro's centre, with the score locked at half-time.
Norwich again started the second half as the brighter side but couldn't find the right final ball. Their extra man in midfield allowed them to sustain attacks and made it difficult for Rovers.
However, Rovers created the best opening as substitute Weimann flicked Kargbo's cross with his head but it landed just wide of the post.
Norwich continued to look a threat but as the half wore on, Blackburn came further into it. By the last 10, they were the team forcing the issue looking for a winner.
That changed with five minutes to go when Dennis saw red. Having been booked already, after coming on, he was deemed to have caught Chrisene challenging for a loose ball.
Rovers looked to have lost the game when Crnac netted on the stroke of 90. The substitute fired past Pears and appeared to have snatched the win for the visitors.
But Blackburn found a response despite being a man light. Weimann showed great movement to find himself in the right position to head in a late equaliser.
