Swimming success for young stars at Championship - Iqraa news

WITNEY and District Swimming Club emerged as the top county team at the Oxfordshire & North Buckinghamshire County Championship.

More than 60 athletes from the club competed, and in the team points, took third place in the junior and overall team scores.

It meant they were the top Oxfordshire club for total team score.

Head coach Chantal Clavaud said: “Third place in junior and overall team scores was an amazing result for our small club and there were so many individual and team successes across the club.”

Hattie Lever won the senior distance events of 800m and 1,500m front crawl, and also won the senior 100m butterfly.

Annaliese Elford won all three junior breaststroke events (50m, 100m and 200m), plus the junior 200m individual medley and junior 50m butterfly.

Ella Green won the junior 200m and 1,500m front crawl, while Ayan Varia won the junior 50m and 100m breaststroke.

The quartet of Mason Amiri, Chris James, Joe Slater and Cameron Waltho won gold in the boys 13-14 years 4 x 50m medley and front crawl relays.
