The dates for Liverpool's Champions League last-16 meeting with Paris Saint-Germain have been confirmed, with the first leg taking place at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, March 5, and the second leg at Anfield set for Tuesday, March 11. Both matches will kick off at 8pm GMT (5pm ET/12pm PT).

PSG finished 15th in the league phase of the competition and was drawn to face Brest in the play-off round, and Luis Enrique's side made extremely light work of its fellow Ligue 1 side, recording a 10-0 aggregate victory. Due to the way the draw worked, Liverpool knew by the end of the play-off phase that it would face either PSG or Benfica in the last 16.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot addressed the draw on Friday as he told club media: "At this stage of the competition, the quality of opponent is only going to be of a very high standard and in PSG we have drawn a team and a club with real European pedigree.

"They qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League in style earlier this week with a big win against Brest and they had some really good results in the league phase, defeating Stuttgart, Manchester City, Girona and Salzburg.

"As is the case with ourselves, PSG are top of their domestic league and are enjoying a long unbeaten run. This tells us all that we need to know about the challenge that we will face but it is also a challenge that we will look forward to, knowing that we also fully deserve to be in the last 16.

"Of course, our immediate focus is on our upcoming Premier League fixtures, starting with Manchester City on Sunday, but we will be doing everything we can to ensure that we are in the best possible shape when the Champions League resumes."

A game against the French champion probably won't feel like much of a reward for Arne Slot's side finishing at the top of the league-phase standings, especially considering fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Aston Villa have been handed palatable ties against PSV Eindhoven and Club Brugge.

The winner of the tie between Liverpool and PSG will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-final, with either Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid awaiting in the semi-final.
