Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens has outlined what he expects from Wanderers under Steven Schumacher.
Schumacher has taken charge of three league games since being named head coach, winning twice, but Wellens reckons he hasn’t had enough time yet to really “stamp his authority”.
Orient are also in good form, sitting sixth in the table following an impressive victory at Wrexham in midweek.
“Maybe a slight change in system, probably different tactically and a bit more aggressive. They have not had too many games," Wellens told the club channels.
“The games they have had, they score goals but they concede so I don’t think we have seen the influence yet.
“I watched the game at Huddersfield and thought they were different to what they have been in the last few years. It was dogged, determined, very good out of possession.
“Ian Evatt was there a long time and had a distinctive style, which was successful. He won more games than he lost.
“I don’t think Schuey has had enough time yet to really stamp his authority, especially with the schedule.
“It is bad for everybody, it is difficult to get on the training ground. One thing they have got is good players, a good squad and lots of options.”
Jack Simpson is a doubt for the visitors after picking up an injury at the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday night, while former Bolton man Darren Pratley misses out through suspension.
“Jack will be 50-50,” Wellens added. “Prats is obviously suspended now and all the other injured lads, Sean Clare is getting closer, he won’t be too far away, same with Ollie O’Neill. No-one fresh will be coming in but the squad is good.
“You have only got to look at the likes of Dilan Markanday, he has been unbelievable since he came in but it has been difficult to get him on in the last couple of games because of the physicality of the opposition and the way the games were going.
“DJ (Diallang Jaiyesimi) was unbelievable against Man City, he has not had too many opportunities. We needed to rest Jack Currie and Sweens (Jayden Sweeney) has stepped up.
“It is important they respect my decision when I am trying to pick a team, I am only trying to pick it for the best of the team and the club to get a result.
“They are all involved and working hard in training. When they get the opportunity to play, you have to take it.”
