Reading manager Noel Hunt has confirmed that the club are still on the look out for a free agent to help boost the squad between now and the end of the season.
The Royals lost Sam Smith to Wrexham in January and goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis agreed to mutually end his time in Berkshire. As Burton Albion's Billy Bodin was the only arrival, on loan until the summer, the club still have space in their squad for a free addition.
Meanwhile, last summer Chem Campbell's loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers was the only piece of business conducted by Ruben Selles, with the winger renewing his deal in January.
Reading have 16 League One matches remaining and ahead of tomorrow's visit from League One leaders Birmingham City sit four points outside the play-off places.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Blues, Hunt said: "It's still on the radar. We have got scope to maybe bring in one. It’s important that we bring in the right character for the group. We are a young group, so it has to be the right person, first and foremost, with the same beliefs in terms of work rate, out of possession stuff and quality in possession.
"We are looking and are aware. We wanted to see how this block of games went and how we fared, and then we can look at it next week."
Reading are due to come out of a four-year EFL transfer embargo in the summer, but will continue to be restricted until the financial accounts, which were due last summer, are published on Companies House.
