Worthing Raiders need to start winning close games if they are to avoid relegation.

They bounced back from a slow start but ended up losing 36-34 at Old Albanian.

Raiders slipped 26-0 down and had Kemp Price yellow-carded while losing Harrison Dakin to injury.

Jack Forrest burst through the defensive line to score Raiders’ first try, then Frank Taggart tapped and plunged towards the line, with the rest of the pack driving him over.

After the break, Jack Gapper rounded off a move and converted his own try to close the gap to 26-17.

More excellent handling from forwards and backs saw Forrest score his second try of the afternoon. Gapper converted.

A controlled catch and drive resulted in another converted try for the home side, giving them a bit of breathing space at 33-24.

Luke Wallace dived over from a lineout and Gapper converted before a penaoty out Raiders ahead with ten minutes to play.

But Old Albanian kicked a simple penalty to retake the lead at 36-34.

Hove beat East Grinstead 18-11 with hooker Tyler Hooper scoring a last-gasp try converted by Cameron Kirkland.

The result leaves Hove comfortable in mid-table with East Grinstead bottom of the table fighting to stay up.
