NEIL Reynolds expects his Warrington Rylands players to be fully switched on for Easter weekend.

He felt they were a little below their best in a 1-0 defeat at relegation-battling Whitby Town on Saturday.

Now they will prepare for their penultimate home game of the season at home to another side caught up in the dogfight at the bottom end, Lancaster, on Saturday before visiting Hyde United on Easter Monday – both 3pm kick-offs.

Blues, who were beaten by Matthew Tyman’s 44th-minute strike at Whitby, may be forced into a few changes through injuries and a suspension for Ben Hardcastle, who was shown a yellow and then a red in the 93rd minute on Saturday.

“Whitby are on a survival journey and you could see that in the way they played because they threw everything at us,” said Reynolds, whose side are 11th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

“They deserved their 1-0 win. They were in control for large parts of the game.

“But it’s no excuse for us to go there and not be the best we can be and I don’t think we were as a collective.

“They never stopped working, never stopped running but in parts our ball retention, our quality, was not as good as it should have been.

“I thought we were excellent the previous week against Guiseley and then we’ve been slightly off the boil at Whitby. That’s ok, that happens in football.

“We don’t want to finish the season on defeats though because it’s a long time over the summer looking back thinking should we have done better?

“My promise is that we’ll always give 100 per cent from when the first ball’s kicked to when the last ball’s kicked.

“It wasn’t right on Saturday for whatever reason and I’ll look to put that right.”

Reynolds acknowledged his players are tired as the season draws to a close.

He added: “It’s going to be tough for everybody now, there’s going to be tired bodies at the end of the season.

“We’ll do everything we can to get ready for a monster weekend. We’re not going to switch off.”

Goalkeeper Luke Pilling, who was replaced by Charlie Martin in the 79th minute, is one player with an injury from the Whitby game and will need monitoring during the week.
