Swindon Town will wear a special white kit this weekend against Bradford City, supporting former player Stephen Darby.

As Swindon take on another of Darby's former clubs this weekend, they will wear a special white kit to support the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, a foundation helping to support families impacted by the disease and find research into finding a cure.

The shirts are available to purchase on Pro:Direct, and limited numbers will also be available in the club shop, with £5 from each sale going to support the foundation.

The match-worn shirts will also be auctioned off after the game, with those profits also being given to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

In a statement on the club website, Darby said: “I only had a short loan spell at Swindon Town, but I loved every minute. The club and fans supported me on the pitch and since my diagnosis they have been massive supporters of myself, the Foundation and the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

"Once again, the club has gone above and beyond by wearing the Foundation’s name on the front of their shirt.

"Myself and everyone at Darby Rimmer would like to say thank you for your continued support in the fight against MND."

Darby served both Swindon and Bradford with distinction during his career, famously scoring the winning penalty to send Town to Wembley in 2010 during the playoff semi-final against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

The former Liverpool academy prospect then spent five years at Valley Parade and captained the club during his time there.

Bradford supporters will be displaying a banner of Darby during the game as well when the two clubs face off during the 12.30 kick-off moved for Sky Sports + coverage.

The former Liverpool man had to retire at age 29 due to developing Motor Neurone disease and has since dedicated himself to helping others impacted by it.

Swindon's Chief Commercial Officer, James Watts, said: “We are delighted to be able to launch this kit for the upcoming game against Bradford City.

"We have been speaking to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation for a few months regarding this, and after an agreement from both the EFL and Bradford City we are delighted to launch the kit for next Saturday's game which is all white kit to pay tribute to the team that won the League Cup in 1969."
