On this day in 2019, Watford secured a place in the FA Cup Final after a thrilling 3-2 extra-time victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Wembley Stadium.
The Hornets, who had been trailing 2-0 with just over an hour played, showcased remarkable resilience, with memorable contributions from Gerard Deulofeu and captain Troy Deeney.
The match began with a tightly contested first half, where Watford had opportunities to take the lead, notably through Andre Gray.
However, it was Wolverhampton who struck first, capitalising on a defensive lapse from a short corner, with Matt Doherty heading the ball past Heurelho Gomes.
Despite the setback, Watford managed to keep the pressure on, but a superb block from Conor Coady denied another Gray effort just before half-time.
The second half saw Wolves extend their lead when Raul Jimenez scored after a well-placed assist from Doherty.
A wonderful effort from Deulofeu gave the Hornets hope with a little more than 10 minutes remaining, before Deeney held his nerve to equalise from the penalty spot in injury-time after he had been fouled by Leander Dendoncker.
The momentum had shifted as the game went into extra-time and it was Deulofeu who scored the winner after Deeney and Gray had combined to release him.
