Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the 3-2 win over Newport County - here's a selection of their comments.

It was when, not if, we'd score the winner. The heart, desire and passion was there today. If only it had been there all season.... (@Mike_Zeller1)

Asked for spirit and desire - and we got that today, would have been easy to crumble, but we didn’t. Need that from now to the end of the season, it may still be a little too late, but it’s not over until it’s over. (@dnm_thegoose)

Unexpected, you doubt we'll score 1 at 2 down, never mind 3. Good work from Wearne and Whelan, great for Kelly to get on the scoresheet. Not a classic but the team dug in for once. Good saves from Breeze 2nd half after a questionable 1st half. Still won't be enough sadly. (@Rich_W27)

Great comeback win! Whether we fall through the relegation trapdoor or not, this needs to be the catalyst to build some momentum going on to next season, wherever it will be. Onward to Morecambe and get the back-to-back win monkey off our backs! (@CowellLes1975)

In the exec box and thought it was the biggest damp squib ever but at least we’ve shown some fight .. Georgie Kelly was superb.. 5 more wins (@Wisey6575)

Thought 0-2 that was it, but 2nd half came out and fought for it. Need to break this back to back wins jinx on Saturday to stand any chance. (@skythelimit1970)

A fighting display - at last. Sadly, much too late to make any real difference. Far too many "if only's.. ". The review will have to be honest and brutal, but for tonight, at least, let's forget the inevitable. (@BruceVander)

It was scrappy, it wasn't pretty but to come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 is incredible. First time we've scored 3 in a game all season, first time we've come from behind to win all season. Defensively and off the ball they still look incredibly poor but they got 3 points! (@A_HonchoYT)

Newport are dross, but the players showed some heart & fight for a change. That's the Kelly we signed, playing him up top with Dennis as a 2 will yield results. Still defensively poor but you can't ask for anything more when you're 2 down. (@FeelingHoly)

Today was the scrappiest, dirtiest and most biased game in all my years of watching CUFC! But we will take the win and we deserved it. (@navy484)

Positives - some fight shown at last and extremely rare come from behind win that just keeps the Great Escape alive. Two goals for Georgie Kelly. Negatives - going two goals down at home against the worst away side in the division missing both their first choice strikers. (@tashkentterror)

Gutted for Georgie that Hayden took the ball off his foot, but the main thing is we scored from it (@dougrmurphy)

At 2 down I phoned home for my taxi, it was baltic in C stand and I could see little point in staying, 1st time ever. Cue Kelly, and a well worked goal. Hope Maybe!? Cancelled my lift to stick it out, seems many fans left. Everybody knows being a #cufc fan hurts, we need to be made of strong stuff, and be prepared for blind refs, 2 in a row this week. Another Kelly goal later and that hope returned, the lads were playing like a proper team, even the ref played fair, did you notice? We found second wind, changes helped, and up pops Hayden, always good for the odd goal, and the board said 3-2 Carlisle. OMG 3-2 to the Blues, and you had to be there to believe it... a rare beast indeed. Is it still on? Sadly I think not (@LindaNi121202)

"Unbelievable, Jeff!" (@McCarlisle1)

Peeve? (@cufc_andy17)

So pleased to see an element of passion and fight in our game , mind you two defences that looked like they were being marshalled by Benny Hill , onto Morecambe we go (@matty017)

After going two down dreaded the worst but great fight and determination to come back, and delighted for Georgie to finally show what he can do, superb performance by him (@Stevenmcleancuf)

Breeze is a big a liability as the rest of them. If he wasn't Swiss cheese, the 2nd wonder goal would not have happened. Good job Newport are shocking, and Georgie Kelly proves he can score goals if he's fit. Season is over already, nothing to cheer about (@PaulFromHarrab)

20th May 2023 ▶️ 5th April 2025. 686 days…Finally saw the blues win a 3pm Saturday fixture at Brunton Park. (Missed Shewsbury and Bromley wins) Now time for us to finally do back to back wins (@kai_thompson9)

Too little too late (@BrianTh24972687)

Irrelevant. Nothing to say! (@AndyTheHood)
