Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United LIVE

Manchester United return to action for the first time in just over two weeks as they face Premier League high-flyers Nottingham Forest at the City Ground tonight. Ruben Amorim’s side were in good form going into the international break and they’ll be hopeful that 16 days without a competitive fixture doesn’t halt their momentum in their bid to climb up the table.

The good news for the Red Devils is that defensive duo Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro have been passed fit following injury, handing Amorim a welcome team selection headache in the process. Though, it remains to be seen what the United boss does with the line-up especially with a Manchester derby and a huge Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon on the horizon.

Forest, meanwhile, are enjoying a fantastic season. In addition to being on course to qualify for the Champions League, they beat Brighton on penalties at the weekend to reach the FA Cup semi-final. Nuno Espirito Santo has guided the Tricky Trees to successive league wins over Man United so the task for his side is an historic treble. Follow all the action with Standard Sport’s LIVE blog!

Man United are still very much a working progress under Ruben Amorim and there’s not a lot to take from the 3-0 win over a very poor Leicester side. In fact, their last two wins in the league have come against teams in the bottom three.

Therefore the game against Forest should provide a clearer indication as to where they’re currently at. Though facing a side unbeaten in their last nine at home across all competitions - a run that includes draws with Liverpool and Arsenal as well as a win over Man City - highlights the size of the task.

Manchester United have been boosted by an easing of injuries in defence ahead of tonight’s trip to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The international break came at the right time for United, and Ruben Amorim confirmed at his pre-match press conference that both Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are now available.

Maguire has been out since the end of February with a calf injury, while Yoro picked up a foot injury against Arsenal in early March.

Amorim must decide whether to bring one or both of the defenders straight back into the starting lineup, with Victor Lindelof likely to be the player to make way if changes are made.

Nottingham Forest could hand recalls to Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi after they started on the bench in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final penalty shootout win over Brighton.

Leading scorer Chris Wood missed the trip to the Amex Stadium with a hip injury sustained whilst on international duty with New Zealand and is expected to miss out tonight.

Nuno said on Monday: "[Wood] is improving. He is getting better day by day. We have to assess him day by day. It is all about him being pain free and then getting back to fitness.”
