Partick Thistle has issued a strongly worded statement addressing unacceptable fan behaviour following Saturday’s Scottish Championship match against Greenock Morton at Cappielow Park.

The Jags revealed that it had received multiple reports related to two key concerns; treatment of Thistle supporters upon entry to the stadium and the conduct of a small number of visiting fans at half-time.

The club confirmed that the first matter has been raised with Morton, as discussions continue to ascertain whether match day procedures were followed correctly.

The second issue, concerning some Thistle supporters moving into non-designated areas of the stadium, has also prompted an internal investigation. While the majority of punters conducted themselves appropriately, Partick chiefs made it clear that such incidents cannot be condoned.

Disturbingly, this is the third meeting between the sides this season to be marred by fan-related incidents.

On Hogmanay, two young Morton supporters were reportedly assaulted, robbed, and had personal belongings damaged. Some stolen items were later displayed on social media by individuals identifying as Partick Thistle fans.

In February’s return fixture at Firhill, three young Thistle fans were subjected to similar treatment, prompting police involvement.

Further controversy arose after Saturday’s match when footage circulated online showing a Thistle supporter attempting to provoke trouble with sections of the Morton faithful. This latest incident has only added to the growing concerns surrounding the behaviour of a minority of fans from both clubs.

Partick Thistle has requested further details from both Greenock Morton and Police Scotland as part of its ongoing investigation into tackling the reoccurring issues. The club has stated that no further comment will be made at this time but remains committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all fans.
