Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim insists it is "good news" that Marcus Rashford is performing on loan at Aston Villa.

Rashford scored his first goals for Villa in his tenth appearance for the club against Championship side Preston North End in their 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final win on Sunday.

The 27-year-old was omitted from 11 out of 12 United matchday squads before he joined Villa on the penultimate day of the winter transfer window.

The Champions League quarter-finalists are paying 75 per cent of Rashford's £325,000 weekly salary and could make the deal permanent for around £40million in the summer.

Amorim first omitted Rashford from the United squad against City on December 15. Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were both dropped on account of their attitude but Garnacho has been involved in every United squad since.

United have high-earning forwards Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho all out on loan. Antony has scored four goals and got four assists in 12 games in Spain but Sancho has underwhelmed for Chelsea since he moved to London in August.

"We have a lot of games to play and I am focused on my team and my players," Amorim said.

"And Rashford is not my player at the moment. But every player that performs well on loan is good news for our club, so we are happy with that."

United resume their season away to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening. Forest are third in the Premier League and reached the last four of the FA Cup with a penalty shootout win at Brighton on Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo took over at the City Ground midway through last season and Amorim is not surprised that his compatriot is thriving by the River Trent.

"First of all, I am not surprised," Amorim added.

"Because I know the work he did in Portugal, in Spain. I know he did really well here with Wolves, he went to Tottenham, he started really well, then things happened.

"But I'm not surprised. I know he is a top manager and you feel it in the team, the environment that they have.

"When you see his team play, you can see the energy, they are so happy, they have mobility.

"I don’t know (if playing extra time at Brighton will affect Fores). Of course, Nuno will say it was better to have more time to prepare the game and I can say that it was a long time in a good moment without games.

"But they play that cup stage, they won and that is really important to recover players, so the environment will be really nice. They are doing amazing and we want to continue to win games."
