England head coach Thomas Tuchel says he has "fallen in love" with Myles Lewis-Skelly as the left-back capped his Three Lions debut with a goal.
The Arsenal defender was given the nod to start as England began their qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup and took just 20 minutes to make his mark.
Lewis-Skelly repaid Tuchel's faith when meeting a superb Jude Bellingham pass with a fine finish, becoming the youngest England player to score on his debut at the age of 18 years and 176 days. He was named man of the match after the game.
Speaking after the game, Tuchel was full of praise for Lewis-Skelly having spent the week casting his eye over the youngster.
"He is an amazing player," Tuchel told ITV. "Amazing personality.
"He came into camp and showed straight away that it's normal to fall in love with him. It is well deserved."
Tuchel was similarly effusive regarding Bellingham, hinting that he expects the Real Madrid star - who is still only 21 years old - to be a leader in midfield.
Tuchel added: "No doubt he is a key player for us. A fantastic pass to assist the first goal.
"I expect special things from Jude. He is ready to take the responsibility and we have to create an environment and structure where we can see more of it."
