Mark Robinson is back with Sussex going into their top-flight return.
The former head coach has rejoined the staff on a short-term deal ahead of the upcoming season.
He links up with Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace, with whom he helped Warwickshire win the County Championship.
Sussex are preparing for their first top-flight Championship season in a decade and are keen to tap into Robinson’s vast experience.
The arrangement will last for at least two months and brings the popular Humbersider back to a club he led to six major trophies in ten years.
He was also in charge of England’s women when they won the World Cup in 2017.
Robinson said: "It feels great to be back at Hove. It’s a club that will always have a special place in my heart.
"To be able to come back and support the coaches and players in building on the successes of last year is an exciting one."
Sussex are currently involved in a two-day friendly away to Hampshire and James Coles kicked things off in style with a knock of 107 while John Simpson made 97, both of them remaining not out.
Surrey visit Hove for a friendly next Wednesday and Thursday.
